Gait training is a type of physical therapy which helps people improve the way we walk or stand. An important aspect of gait training is to help in preventing falls in the future.
This specific training will help strengthen muscles and joints and will aide in improving overall balance and posture.
We strive to improve every patients gait pattern and ensure all aspects of walking are performed properly.
At The Flagler Institute, we incorporate challenges to ensure safe community ambulation including:
- Obstacle Courses
- Curb Training
- Various Surfaces (foam, tilt boards, ramps)
- Improve Gait Speed
Additionally, The Flagler Institute uses a Biodex Gait Trainer (Treadmill) to assess step length and gait speed pertaining specifically to the patients age, gender and height.
